Boscia Be Brilliant Skin Care Set Giveaway & Review

I bought myself a great little kit to try out
Boscia's products for the first time.

I've got one just for you, too!
Why Boscia (BO-sha)?
"Originally developed in Japan 32 years ago and introduced to the United States in 2002, boscia is the world’s first 100% preservative-free skincare.
boscia products are formulated without the following:
- Preservatives (boscia contains none of the 150 industry-recognized preservatives – not just parabens – that can irritate skin and cause blemishes, redness, eczema and more).
- Ethanol alcohol
- Bactericides
- Synthetic fragrances
- Synthetic colorants
- Mineral oil
- Animal ingredients"
(all material in quotes above is directly from their website, http://www.bosciaskincare.com )

What's in the kit?

  • Luminizing Black Mask
  • Green Tea Blotting Linens
  • Purifying Cleansing Gel
  • Oil-free Nightly Hydration

Here's what I thought of each product.

Luminizing Black Mask - It's a peel-off type mask. It goes on like a thick, black goo, and dries in about 30 minutes. Then you peel it off. Owwwwieeee! I don't know how it will do for you, but it actually kinda hurt as I pulled it off. Maybe it's just me & my skin? It did seem to leave my skin super-clean & stripped oils away, if you like that. If you have more mature skin, you might not want your oils stripped away. I didn't put on a really thick coating, because I want to be able to get several uses out of the trial size tube. Not a good idea. You need to put on a nice, thick layer or it will take you FOREVER to get all of this peeled off. Go ahead and use a good amount. Of course, you can just wash it off, but what's the point if you do that?!? It's a peel-off mask?!?!

Green Tea Blotting Linens - I've used quite a few different blotting papers, and these are pretty standard, yet good. They soak up oil from your face, don't have anything on them you don't want (like powder - Burt's Bees; or little black dots - ELF) that transfers onto your skin. They simply absorb oil, while smelling lightly like Green Tea. I like these.

Purifying Cleansing Gel- Sulfate-free, gel-type cleanser that claims to remove makeup and deep clean while protecting natural moisture, thanks to amino acids. It does pretty good. It won't take all your eye makeup off (most cleansers don't), but it seems to do a good job cleaning the typical junk off. It has a light, leafy smell. It tends to run out too fast, so beware. I kept squeezing out waaaay too much. I really do prefer a thick, cream-type cleanser better.

Oil-free Nightly Hydration- For normal to oily skin. No noticeable scent. Feels very slippery and is more of a lotion consistency, not a cream-type. Supposed to provide weightless hydration (seems fine to me), combat excess oil (not sure, more use needed), and refine the look of pores (again, more use needed to determine). I do like this facial lotion. It doesn't break me out at all. I'm not sure that its super-fabulous yet, other than the fact that it's preservative-free, which is always a definite plus. It's truly so hard to tell if facial lotions and creams really do all the stuff they claim to do. It takes time, like months, and usually the results are quite subtle (AKA "it's hard to tell"!).

My Bottom Line: I really like the Blotting Papers. I'd buy them again. I'm liking the Oil-free Hydration Lotion, but I'll need more time to see if the cost is worth it. So far, I'd pass on the black mask b/c it seems too harsh on my skin. The cleanser is just not special enough to me to justify the cost.
