EASY Highlights for under $10?!? WHAT?!?

Can you can get highlights at home, EASY, for under $10?

YES.

Let me introduce you to a new product I found and tried out.
You see, I spent a few months in South Florida and got a NICE tan. My hair even lightened up a touch. I thought it might be fun (and a change of pace) to get some highlights to go with said tan. However, I am not one to go spend $40 on touch-ups every month, so I figured highlights were out of my league.

Then I stumbled across an article in Woman's Day magazine that mentioned Marc Anthony's Easy-Lites and that it was truly easy and actually worked. I checked out Youtube for daring guinea pigs who had already blazed a trail before me. There weren't many videos, but there were a few with decidedly good results. So, I decided to go find Easy-Lites the next day. Here's how it went.

Here's a picture of my natural hair:
Here's the video (yes, it's kinda long at 20 minutes, but it's filled with relevant info & tips, so forgive me for the video novel!):
And here are a few "after" shots:
I found my box of Marc Anthony Easy-Lites at Rite Aid for $8.99 plus tax.
You will need not only the Easy-Lites, but also a flat iron that is at least 350 degrees.

I make no claim that this is good for you hair, since nearly anything (hair color, blow drying, flat ironing, even hairspray) you do to your hair is damaging. (However, a week later, I can tell you that my hair doesn't seem to be noticeably damaged from this, although I'm sure it is somewhat damaged, as with any hair processing.) I also make no promise or claim that this product will give you the exact results you want. I am simply sharing MY experience with the product.

The box indicates what to somewhat expect from different hair colors
If you want to use this product, be sure to watch the video, because you will learn important things, like the fact that I had to "do" each highlight TWICE. One time did not work on my dark hair.
Another "box shot"
Also, as stated in the video, I HIGHLY recommend you do a test strip, just like I did, so you can see what your results will be...see if you like it...see if ONCE or TWICE or WHATEVER is gonna be your magic number...see if your flat iron gets hot enough, etc.

Pay attention & be careful!
Heat is hot after all, and you can (and most likely will) get burned. (I did!)

It works apparently due to hydrogen peroxide(2nd ingredient):

BTW!
Marc Anthony products will be "Buy One Get One 50% Off" at Ulta Sept 2nd through Sept 22nd, according to their sale catalog I received in the mail this past week (pg 32)!
Leave me some comments.

Hi, Blue Eye, I parted my hair like I typically wear it...to the side. If you watch the video, you should be able to see how it was parted and how I took small chunks all over the top layer to get the highlights I achieved. At the very beginning of the video, you'll see I did a chunk of my underlayer, b/c it was my "test". That way if it did horribly, it wouldn't be noticeable. I hope this helps. Thanks for reading!

I just bought this product and I am a mom probably about your age and I have the same exact haircut as you. I dye my hair because I have some gray and I was wondering if you knew how to touch up the grays and give the ends a color lift without affecting them?

@Desiree Padro, I'm so sorry that I don't know the answer to that. It sounds kind of complicated. Perhaps if you search Google you may find something helpful? Sorry I can't answer that for you :(
