So, after an extended absence I'm back with a vengeance...ready to review away and make up for lost time. I have just been *swamped* with kids, school, repeated illnesses, too many things to do, followed by Thanksgiving. Now, even though it's still the Christmas Holidays, I'm going to try to fit in blog-time. Sorry for being AWOL for so long!
Anyway, I've been using a new facial lotion for about a month and a half and I wanted to tell all you rosacea sufferers (and anyone who has general facial redness, which is my case) about it. It's Eucerin Redness Relief Daily Perfecting Lotion with SPF 15 (bottle says: "for visibly red skin - with subtle green neutralizers"). Now, keep in mind that I'm not diagnosed with rosacea and don't believe my case to be as bad as that. I do just seem to have a lot of blotchy redness all the time and it aggravates me. Looks like I have a permanent, mild sunburn, kinda.
Well, the first thing I noticed was that it went on smoothly and was not greasy at all. I sometimes suffer from oily skin and acne outbreaks so I avoid oily, greasy moisturizers on the face, and this one fit the bill. It absorbed quickly, easily, unlike other lotions I've used where I need to go and find something else to do for 5 minutes before I can come back and put on makeup. And my skin feels kinda silky with it on. Also, there is a mild green tint. No, you don't look like a Hulk impersonator...it blends right into your skin and leaves zero greenness. It does, however, tone down the redness. Not all the way gone, mind you, but quite a bit better. This lotion also supposedly contains some hard-hitters in the redness-relief battle, according to what I read in magazines before I made my purchase. Now, honestly I can't be sure that it has had any long-lasting effect on my general redness, but then, I don't use it every single day...probably about 4-5 days per week. I think there is slight long-term reduction, but I believe its strongest quality is its ability to immediately reduce redness thanks to the green tinting. I am also a BIG believer in sun protection, and I want at least an SPF of 15 on my face if I step out the door...and this delivers. It would be nice if it were even higher - a 20 or 25 maybe? But it's hard to get that in any facial moisturizer. Plus, I do use mineral makeup, and it provides additional protection, all its own, equivalent to an SPF of 20+. So, the decision: this lotion performs better than some others at general moisturizing with an SPF, with no greasiness; and in addition cuts some redness immediately due to the green tinting; PLUS, it provides at least SOME benefit in long-term redness reduction...so it's a keeper! I think I may have found my new "go-to" daily facial lotion :) Yay!
